McKinneyNews.Net

Southern Land Company, along with the McKinney Performing Arts Center, is kicking off a cultural initiative that will offer live music and related arts to the general public free of charge. Arts on the Lawn, a series of outdoor concerts, art shows and family-friendly activities begins on August 31 with a live performance at Tucker Hill – Southern Land Company’s mixed-use community on Highway 380 west of U.S. 75.

The featured artist will be Lantana, a local country music trio that has become widely popular among music fans of all ages.

In addition to Lantana, Rayla Ray will be opening on the main stage and will be shooting a promotional video at the event. There will also be local arts groups performing throughout the neighborhood and interactive art activities for the whole family. Carriage rides for visitors to tour the community will be provided as well. The festivities go from 5 - 9 p.m.

“We are so excited to begin our community activities,” said Mary Day, marketing director for Tucker Hill. “With homes selling and residents getting closer to moving in, we wanted to start these activities to show people what living in Tucker Hill is going to be like. We want people to know that this is not a one time event to get people into our community, but that this type of event will take place regularly for our residents.”

Arts on the Lawn will be the first of a continual concert series at Tucker Hill. The lawn at Tucker Hill was graded with outdoor concerts in mind. Arts on the Lawn will become a staple in community activities.

"Through Tucker Hill's innovative initiatives in planned living with their tremendous support of the arts community, the new concert series and interactive programs will only enhance the quality of life for its homeowners and help expand the arts for our community," said David Taylor, Director of MPAC.

Lantana, a local country sensation, will headline the event. The country threesome will entertain the crowd for two hours, showcasing their eclectic and edgy country sound. This all-female group features the talented and distinctive voices of Biz Haddock, Lisa Underwood and Dalene Richelle.

Additional concerts are in the planning stages and will be announced in the near future. Visit www.tuckerhilltx.com for updated information regarding community events.
