McKinney, Texas – Southern Land Company, LLC (www.southernland.com), a national, full-service real estate developer of mixed-use communities, has officially opened its Discovery Center at Tucker Hill – a 772-acre traditional neighborhood located on University Drive (Highway 380) in McKinney.
The Discovery Center will be home to Tucker Hill’s sales and marketing teams, and will serve as visitors’ first introduction to Southern Land Company’s distinct and highly specialized approach to master plan community development.
In celebration of the opening, the public is invited to meet the sales team and learn more about Tucker Hill on June 9th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Discovery Center. Frisco RoughRiders and the team’s mascot, Deuce, will attend the event and sign autographs as part of the opening festivities. Southern Land Company partnered with the RoughRiders as a sponsor for the 2007 baseball season.
“Everyone at Southern Land Company has looked forward to this day for quite some time,” said Kathy Cunningham, VP of Community Development for Southern Land Company. “The creation of Tucker Hill has been a team effort from the beginning. There are many people to thank for their hard work, long hours and unwavering attention to detail. We have now reached a place where we are ready to unveil Tucker Hill, and we are confident that we can exceed the people’s current expectations of new development in Collin County.”
Southern Land Company broke ground at Tucker Hill in October of 2006. The property was previously owned by the Billingsley Company. Southern Land Company contracted for the property in 2005 and received final zoning approvals for Tucker Hill in the spring of 2006.
The first phase of construction contains 129 available homesites. A small number of homesites will be designated custom lots, while the majority already belong to members of the Tucker Hill Master Builder program. Builders currently in the program include: Darling Homes, Flagstone Custom Homes, Pavlis Custom Homes, and Southern Land Company Homebuilding.
“We are very fortunate to have such a talented roster of builders,” said Cunningham. “Their affiliation with Tucker Hill is a true advantage in this market.”
