Tucker Hill developer flies local Realtors to Tennessee project

Southern Land Company, developer of the Tucker Hill Community on U.S. 380 in McKinney, has taken uncommon strides to introduce its brand of development to the McKinney realty market.

Over the past three weeks, 50 top producers from several McKinney real estate brokerages flew to Franklin, Tenn., to tour Southern Land’s corporate offices and visit Westhaven — a 1,500-acre mixed-use community that is the inspiration for Tucker Hill.

“Tucker Hill is our first community in McKinney and because it will be so different from other neighborhoods in Collin County, we wanted to introduce Realtors to our development philosophy first hand,” said Robin Kuklenski, director of Realtor relations. “The trip gave real estate professionals the opportunity to ask questions and learn how a new community can appear with emphasis placed on architecture, horticulture and design. It was an excellent series of trips and we hope to do it again in the near future.”

Realtors flew from Collin County Regional Airport to Nashville. They toured Southern Land Company’s corporate offices in Franklin. From there, they went to Westhaven and walked the community with the sales and marketing team. They returned to the airport and were home for dinner.

“Tucker Hill will raise the expectations of homeowners for generations to come,” said Gerry Russell, a broker/manager for Ebby Halliday. “It will be like stepping back in time to capture the ambiance of a beautifully preserved historic district, but you won’t have to give up all the modern day conveniences and technologies.”

Tucker Hill will consist of more than 2,100 homes with more than 50 acres of open space along Wilson and Stover creeks. Builders are in the final design phases of the model streetscape and will open new homes in 2009. Phase-one road paving is now under way.

“The Realtor community is critical for Tucker Hill,” said Kathy Cunningham, vice president of community development for Tucker Hill. “Their knowledge of the market and their grasp on what people moving to Collin County are seeking will enable our architects, town planners, and builders to create homes and open spaces that exceed expectation.”
