Southern Land Company announces that 3601 Market has been awarded the prestigious LEED® Silver Certification. The LEED rating system, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is the foremost program for buildings, homes and communities that are designed, constructed, maintained and operated for improved environmental and human health performance.
“We are very proud that we have achieved LEED Silver certification for 3601 Market,” said Dustin Downey, Senior Vice President of Multifamily Development at Southern Land Company. “We have worked hard to incorporate energy efficient products and materials into the building structure and deliver high performance. By reducing energy and water consumption, we are benefiting our residents, the community and the environment.”
3601 Market is an amenity-filled, Class A+ luxury high-rise rental property located in Philadelphia’s growing University City community. This unique development, which officially opened in September 2015, was designed and constructed to maximize energy efficiency, reduce water consumption, improve indoor air quality and free up valuable resources. Extra measures were taken to ensure the highest level of environmental and health performance such as energy efficient appliances and HVAC systems, LED lights throughout the property, water-saving fixtures, bike storage, car share service and a rain garden.
More than 78,600 commercial and institutional projects are currently participating in LEED, comprising more than 15 billion square feet of construction space in all 50 states and more than 150 countries. (Note: These numbers are dynamic. Please visit USGBC’s Statistics page for updated statistics).
“3601 Market’s LEED certification demonstrates tremendous green building leadership,” said Rick Fedrizzi, CEO and founding chair, USGBC. “The urgency of USGBC’s mission has challenged the industry to move faster and reach further than ever before, and 3601 Market serves as a prime example of just how much we can accomplish.”
