National developer designates office as single-family community development and homebuilding headquarters

Southern Land Company (SLC), a Nashville-based national real estate developer of award-winning master-planned and mixed-use communities, has relocated and expanded its Texas office to 7250 Dallas Parkway in Plano. Neighboring The Shops at Legacy East, this new regional office focuses on single-family community development and operations and homebuilding nationwide, while also serving the company’s multifamily business. The strategic move supports SLC’s steady growth and its mission to create the extraordinary while maintaining its high standards of excellence.

“Our portfolio has been rapidly expanding across the country, and our vertically integrated team has grown by more than 15% in the last year alone, now surpassing more than 670 employees,” said SLC President & COO, Brian Sewell. “The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is full of both burgeoning and seasoned talent in real estate development and design, so it was a natural choice to continue growing our office presence in Plano, after having outgrown our first office space there. The new regional office serves as the hub for our single-family community development and operations and homebuilding teams, as well as other key functions that support our entire portfolio.”

The company’s Plano office brings together several teams under the company’s single-family umbrella, including community development, construction management, design coordination, interior design, finance, accounting, and marketing. These teams share the office with SLC team members that serve SLC’s multifamily communities, as well as the company’s technology & innovation team.

In Texas, SLC’s single-family community portfolio currently includes Lunaroya, an intimate luxury home community featuring spacious homesites along Barton Creek in Dripping Springs in Texas Hill Country. SLC also developed and manages Tucker Hill, a master-planned community in McKinney.

Elsewhere, SLC’s collection of single-family and master-planned communities includes:

  • Westhaven, a 1,500-acre, 3,500-home, award-winning master-planned community in Franklin, Tennessee;
  • Fairington, a 373-acre, 700-home master-planned community in Nolensville, Tennessee;
  • Westerly, an 800-acre, 3,100-home master-planned community in Erie, Colorado; and
  • Mare Island, a large-scale revitalized mixed-use community with housing, entertainment, hospitality, and business opportunities on a historic peninsula in Vallejo, California.

In total, SLC has 8,000 lots in its single-family pipeline, many of which will feature homes built by the company’s in-house homebuilding group, SLC Homes, which builds exclusively in SLC communities and emphasizes innovative design, quality craftsmanship, high-end materials, elegant finishes, contemporary conveniences, and lush landscaping.

In addition to Lunaroya and Tucker Hill, SLC has a successful history adding to Texas’ real estate landscape. In 2024, SLC opened Deco, the first high-rise rental resident tower in Downtown Fort Worth in more than 30 years. SLC will also develop a luxury high-rise in Houston’s Upper Kirby district. SLC also developed and sold several other multifamily communities in Texas:

  • Arthouse – Keller, Texas
  • Junction 15 – Plano, Texas
  • Morada Plano – Plano, Texas
  • Novē at Knox – Dallas, Texas
  • The Lofts at Watters Creek – Allen, Texas

SLC’s collective portfolio includes more than 35 single-family, multifamily, and mixed-use communities nationwide. Beyond the new Plano office, SLC’s offices include its corporate headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee; its multifamily and mixed-use headquarters in Rockefeller Center in New York; a mountain regional office in Erie, Colorado; a west regional office in Vallejo, California; and a mid-Atlantic regional office in Philadelphia.
