New VP joins real estate developer in midst of community development and homebuilding growth
Southern Land Company (SLC), a national real estate developer of award-winning mixed-use, master-planned, and single-family communities, has hired Jeff Poole as the company’s new Vice President, Single-Family Land Acquisitions. In this newly created role, Poole is responsible for expanding SLC’s community development pipeline as well as SLC’s single-family homebuilding division, SLC Homes.

As Vice President, Single-Family Land Acquisitions, Poole researches and identifies community development opportunities—including specific markets, submarkets, and sites—and leads due diligence and underwriting efforts for them. Poole is dedicated to the thoughtful, strategic expansion of SLC’s master-planned community and single-family community collection, with current operations in Texas, Tennessee, and Colorado.

With nearly 25 years in the homebuilding business, Poole came to SLC well-prepared for the role. He spent significant time leading land acquisition efforts for national homebuilders in the Dallas-Fort Worth market, including Pulte Group, K. Hovnanian Homes, KB Home, and Ashton Woods Homes. Most recently, Poole spent 13 years as Pulte Group’s Vice President of Land Acquisition in Dallas-Fort Worth, where he led land acquisition activities including sourcing and assessing sites, negotiations, due diligence, financial feasibility, land package preparation, and entitlements. Prior to Pulte Group, Poole led land acquisition efforts at KB Home and Ashton Woods Homes. He also held this role at K. Hovnanian Homes following time spent as Controller and DFW Region Controller for the company.
Poole is based in SLC’s Plano, Texas, office.

- Storyvale, a 372-acre, 700-home, master-planned community in Nolensville, Tennessee

- Westerly, an 800-acre, 3,100-home master-planned community in Erie, Colorado (including for-sale and rental homes)
- Mare Island, a large-scale revitalized mixed-use community with housing, entertainment, hospitality, and business opportunities on a historic peninsula in Vallejo, California
