Brian Sewell

Brian initially joined Southern Land Company in 2002 to lead development of master-planned and single-family communities. Over the course of his 23-year tenure, his role has increased as the company diversified into a nationwide real estate company. Since 2008, Brian has served the role of President and Chief Operating Officer, overseeing all development activity of SLC master-planned, single-family, multifamily, and commercial projects nationwide, from ideation to construction to ownership. Additionally, Brian steers corporate administrative functions, the company’s in-house commercial construction group, architecture and design, property management, infrastructure, horticulture, and SLC Homes.

Brian’s wealth of experience spans more than 30 years. Prior to joining SLC, he led development of master-planned communities in the Tampa Bay area for Terrabrook, which included a 3,000-acre master-planned community. Brian also held development roles with American General Land Development in Houston and Pulte Homes.

Brian has been a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) for 29 years, and he currently serves on ULI Americas’ Community Development Council. Additionally, Brian is a member of The Wake Forest University School of Business Board of Visitors. He formerly served as a board member of the Tampa Bay Builders Association and YoungLife Williamson County.

Brian earned bachelor’s degrees in finance and real estate from Baylor University, followed by a Master of Business Administration in operations management from Auburn University.
