Ronan Kearney joins company ahead of eight anticipated community openings in 2024

Southern Land Company (SLC), a national real estate developer of award-winning mixed-use developments and master-planned communities, has named Ronan Kearney Senior Vice President, Head of Property Management for its mixed-use and multifamily communities across the US. Kearney comes to SLC with a robust background in mixed-use and multifamily property management, which he will leverage to build and lead onsite teams and establish best-in-class operational standards as the company continues to grow.

“Our portfolio of mixed-use and multifamily communities will significantly expand over the next few years, with eight new communities slated to open in 2024 alone,” said Tim Downey, SLC founder and CEO. “With this level of growth underway, we knew we needed to bring in an accomplished property management leader to ensure residents of SLC communities have exceptional living experiences, and Ronan more than fits the bill. His wealth of property management expertise and proven track record have him perfectly positioned to make a strong impact.”

As part of SLC’s full-service, vertically integrated approach to real estate development, Kearney will be key in strengthening the company’s strong property management division to increase operational efficiency and support SLC’s goals in owning and operating exceptional, high-quality communities. He will be based in SLC’s New York City office at Rockefeller Center.

“I am looking forward to preparing the company for its next phase of growth,” said Kearney. “SLC is renowned for its commitment to creating truly remarkable communities and destinations. It is an honor to contribute to that legacy by building teams that are best equipped to ease and elevate the experience of everyone who lives in or engages with an SLC community.”

Kearney comes to SLC with more than 15 years of property management and operations leadership experience. Before joining SLC, Kearney served as Senior Vice President of Operations for Beam Living, a Blackstone-owned portfolio company, where he oversaw daily operations for StuyTown in Manhattan’s Lower East Side to improve the lives of 30,000 families residing in the community’s 11,250 apartment homes.

Prior to Beam Living, Ronan spent nearly a decade with The Brodsky Organization, a New York-based real estate developer. During his tenancy with The Brodsky Organization, Kearney spent several years in senior management roles with multiple luxury high-rise multifamily communities, followed by four years as Director of Management, Staffing, and Operations for the company’s property portfolio. Kearney’s collective tenure testifies to his asset and property management prowess within the luxury mixed-use and multifamily sectors, which he will utilize at SLC to meet financial goals, recruit, and retain each community’s onsite team, and bolster operations.

SLC currently operates four active mixed-use and multifamily properties:
