Southern Land Company recently announced the promotion of Brontë Prins to Senior Vice President – General Counsel.
Prins will continue to provide expert legal counsel to Southern Land Company’s executive team while leading the company’s in-house legal counsel and managing outside counsel. She will be responsible for the entirety of the company’s legal affairs across the U.S., including acquisitions, litigation, intellectual property, construction law, community interest law, and tax law, among others.
“Brontë has consistently provided valuable legal insights and guidance to Southern Land Company,” said Tim Downey, Founder and CEO of Southern Land Company. “We are thrilled to announce her promotion to General Counsel.”
Prins has been with Southern Land Company since 2019 and has quickly advanced in her career with the company. Hired on as Associate General Counsel in 2019, Prins earned a promotion to Vice President – Legal after 10 months with the company. Prins held the position for eight months before she earned her current promotion to Senior Vice President – General Counsel.
Among her accomplishments with Southern Land Company, Prins cites the recent acquisition of land at 1620 Sansom Street in Philadelphia as one of her most significant. She worked closely with the sellers and Southern Land Company’s internal acquisitions team throughout pandemic-riddled 2020 to secure the site, and now looks forward to a one-of-a-kind project being realized.
Prior to joining Southern Land Company, Prins worked for Clifford Chance in New York City and Baker Donelson in Nashville.
Prins received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Southern California and a Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law. She is admitted to both the New York State Bar and the Tennessee State Bar. Prins serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Tennessee World Affairs Council.
Prins is a third-generation female lawyer. Her mother currently practices law and her grandmother is a retired lawyer. Prins is originally from Toronto and currently resides in Nashville with her husband, Bill, and German shepherd, Reba Fancy.
