Trio of builders, including two local groups, will build homes in new Erie master-planned community
We are thrilled to announce the homebuilder team at Westerly, our new 400-acre master-planned community in Erie, Colo., which broke ground last month. The builder team will consist of SLC Homebuilding, Southern Land Company’s in-house homebuilding group, as well as two well-known, longtime Colorado homebuilders: McStain Neighborhoods, based in Denver, and Wonderland Homes, based in Greenwood Village.
“Collectively, this team of builders has an outstanding track record of high quality, creativity, and successful development,” said Heidi Majerik, SLC vice president and general manager of Westerly. “It is important to Southern Land Company to partner with builders that complement one another as we strive to deliver an unparalleled living experience to a wide variety of residents.”
Another key factor in our selection of McStain Neighborhoods and Wonderland Homes as builder partners was their commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.
“Sustainability and energy efficiency have long been integral components of SLC Homebuilding and it was a non-negotiable when we sought partners for Westerly,” said Majerik. “McStain and Wonderland are leaders in these areas.”
SLC Homebuilding, McStain Neighborhoods, and Wonderland Homes will build approximately 1,200 homes at Westerly. The community will feature five distinct product lines, each featuring a series of homes newly designed to be built for the very first time in the Westerly community.
SLC Homebuilding has been building homes exclusively within SLC communities since 1986 and is known for infusing impeccable design and an enhanced level of standard features focused on comfort, security, and smart technology, providing homebuyers with a complete home. SLC Homebuilding’s high level of standard features is evident in other SLC master-planned communities where they have built, including the award-winning Westhaven community in Franklin, Tenn., which served as a source of inspiration for the design of Westerly.
“SLC Homebuilding has a proven history of success, and we are excited to bring the team’s skills and talents to the Denver market for the first time in conjunction with Southern Land Company’s first master-planned community in Denver,” said David Bracht, national president of homebuilding and acquisitions at SLC. “With the partnership of McStain and Wonderland—two reputable, respected homebuilding institutions—we are poised to create a community of truly unique and dynamic homes.”
Westerly will consist of homes of diverse designs in a traditional neighborhood setting. This means homes will be situated along thoughtfully landscaped streets and open green spaces, which have been designed by SLC’s in-house Design and Horticulture teams in conjunction with Denver-based PCS Group Inc. Additionally, homes will feature welcoming front porches and two product lines will feature alley-load garages. Sidewalks and walking trails connecting all parts of the community will make Westerly pedestrian-friendly and encourage neighborly interaction.
The community will include a variety of greenways for residents to enjoy, as well as expansive views of Longs Peak and the entire Front Range. More than 100 acres of Westerly will be undeveloped open spaces. A community town center is planned, which is expected to include a mixture of restaurants, shops and services within approximately 35,000 square feet of commercial space. In addition, residents living in Westerly will have access to gathering areas for fitness and outdoor recreation, including a swimming pool, great lawn, and various play areas. There will also be an approximately 5,000-square-foot indoor space for community gathering and indoor fitness.
The Westerly homebuilders expect to break ground on model homes before the end of the year.
