Downtown Fort Worth’s First High-Rise Residential Tower in More Than 30 Years Marks Revival of Urban Living

Southern Land Company (SLC), an award-winning national real estate developer of master-planned, single-family, multifamily, and mixed-use communities, celebrated the grand opening of Deco, its new luxury mixed-use high-rise at 969 Commerce Street in Downtown Fort Worth on Wednesday, July 17. SLC leadership and project partners were joined by city officials and local guests to commemorate the opening of Downtown Fort Worth’s newest residential tower to add to the city’s skyline in more than 30 years.

The event featured remarks from:

  • Ronan Kearney, SLC Senior Vice President, Head of Property Management
  • Tim Downey, SLC Founder and CEO
  • Mayor Mattie Parker, City of Fort Worth
  • Elizabeth Beck, City of Fort Worth District 9 City Councilmember
  • Roy Brooks, Tarrant County Commissioner
  • Andy Taft, Downtown Fort Worth, Inc. President
  • Carlos De La Torre, Fort Worth Downtown Neighborhood Alliance President

“We are excited to welcome residents home to Deco, Downtown Fort Worth’s newest high-rise residential offering in more than three decades,” said Tim Downey, SLC Founder and CEO. “Stunning Art Deco-inspired design, luxurious amenities, and a prime location steps from Sundance Square puts Deco in position to redefine urban living in Fort Worth. We are proud to contribute to the city’s growth and provide a home that residents will cherish for years to come.”

“This $150 million investment marks a significant milestone in the urban development of Fort Worth, adding a new landmark to the city’s skyline,” said City of Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker. “Deco is the first luxury residential tower to be built in downtown Fort Worth in 30 years, marking the start of what will bring even more residential housing in our urban core.”

Designed by Dallas-based GDA Architects, Deco’s façade reflects the Art Deco architecture and design on display throughout Panther City. The tower’s interiors, designed by Dallas-based Faulkner Design Group, similarly reflect this chic vintage aesthetic with gilded details and geometric touches featured throughout the building’s various living and amenity spaces.

Within the 567,000 square feet that comprise Deco, residents enjoy an elevated lifestyle with their choice from Deco’s 302 pet-friendly one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, including penthouses on the upper floors. With 19 spacious apartment home floor plans ranging from 684 square feet to 1,582 square feet starting at just over $2,000 per month, plus six penthouses ranging from 1,157 square feet to 2,793 square feet starting at just over $6,000 per month, Deco’s rental residences are tailored to accommodate those seeking an enhanced lifestyle.

Along with Deco’s collection of apartment homes, the community features an extensive amenity collection that encourages residents to enjoy an active and enriching lifestyle. This collection is headlined by a multi-level rooftop amenity deck that includes an outdoor resort-style pool and spa on the 24th floor, which is heated during colder seasons, complete with a poolside bar and lounge, as well as a 180-inch poolside jumbotron; and a 25th floor outdoor greenspace with dual-facing firepit. Also, the 24th floor Nouveau Sky Lounge offers well-appointed gathering spaces, a fully equipped demonstration kitchen with a wraparound bar, billiards, and incredible views. Additional amenities and services at Deco include a state-of-the-art athletic studio equipped with video-enabled treadmills, Peloton bikes, free weights, and Echelon mirror; dedicated dog grooming spa; lobby lounge with social bar; bicycle repair shop; and onsite concierge from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Additionally, Deco features a secured, eight-level, above-grade parking garage, complete with electric vehicle parking stations. Residents will enjoy additional technology features including access control home entry and a Luxer package room for secure package storage with mobile notifications.

Deco’s offerings will also draw Fort Worth local and visitors, as Southern Land Company has incorporated exceptional dining space on the ground level that will become home to Texas’ first Broadway 10 Bar & Chophouse (B|10), a modern chophouse that promises an unparalleled dining experience. B|10 will entice diners with its menu that will pay homage to Cowtown’s cattle-driven legacy. The 8,500-square-foot restaurant will feature an exquisite menu showcasing hand-cut steaks and seafood grilled over a blend of pecan, oak, and hickory woods—a nod to the dynamic flavors that surround Texas cuisine. Hand-rolled sushi will freshen up guests’ offerings, with the whole menu complemented by an impressive wine and cocktail list. B|10 is expected to open at Deco in early 2025.

“Deco ushers in a new era of downtown Fort Worth living,” said Andy Taft, president of Downtown Fort Worth, Inc. “As Downtown’s premier apartment community, Deco sets the Downtown lifestyle bar higher than ever. Southern Land’s design, finishes, amenities, proximity to jobs, dining, entertainment, and commuter rail takes the ease and convenience of downtown’s lock-and-leave high-rise living to new levels.”
