New York-based leaders Alex Cauchon, Carly Catalana, Kevin Wilson and Matt Ritsko take on expanded roles across hospitality, marketing, strategy and construction as SLC celebrates its 40th anniversary

Today, Southern Land Company, a vertically integrated, national real estate developer of award-winning single-family, multifamily, and mixed-use communities, announced the promotion of four New York-based leaders to expanded roles: Alex Cauchon to Executive Vice President, Hospitality; Carly Catalana to Senior Vice President and Co-Head of Marketing; Kevin Wilson to Senior Vice President and Co-Head of Marketing & Strategy; and Matt Ritsko to President, Construction. The promotions strengthen SLC’s leadership across hospitality, marketing, strategy, and construction as the company expands its national portfolio and in-house capabilities.

The promotions come during a period of significant momentum for SLC as it celebrates its 40th anniversary. Founded in Nashville in 1986, the company has grown into an estimated $5 billion national real estate portfolio spanning multifamily, single-family, master-planned communities, office, retail, and hospitality, with more than 10,000 homes delivered across 18 communities. Central to that growth is the vertically integrated model established by Founder and CEO Tim Downey, bringing development, design, construction, horticulture, property management, and hospitality together within one organization.

“These promotions recognize four leaders who have made a tremendous impact on Southern Land Company’s growth,” said Tim Downey, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Southern Land Company. “Over the last 40 years, we’ve grown by hiring incredibly talented people, expanding our in-house capabilities, and never losing sight of the experience we create for the people who live in and visit our communities. Alex, Carly, Kevin, and Matt embody that principle, and their leadership will help shape SLC’s evolution.”

New York has become an increasingly important leadership hub for SLC. The company recently expanded its office to 99 Park Avenue, home to senior executives responsible for its national operations. The promotions follow other investments in SLC’s leadership and capabilities, including the appointment of Tony Marchbanks as National President of Homebuilding to expand single-family investments and Bobby Frank to lead SLC Lending, its in-house mortgage division.

Together, Cauchon, Catalana, Wilson and Ritsko bring decades of experience across hospitality, branding, marketing, strategy, architecture and construction. In their expanded roles, they will lead functions supporting projects and communities across the country while advancing the integrated approach that has defined SLC’s growth.

  • Alex Cauchon, Executive Vice President, Hospitality: Cauchon leads SLC’s newly created hospitality division, overseeing food and beverage strategy for mixed-use communities with restaurant and dining components. He brings more than 25 years of hospitality experience, most recently as an independent consultant advising restaurants, fine-dining establishments, and hospitality groups. Previously, he spent 12 years with BR Guest Hospitality, ultimately overseeing 25 locations across five states, generating $140 million in annual revenue.

  • Carly Catalana, Senior Vice President and Co-Head of Marketing & Branding: Catalana leads brand strategy and marketing across SLC’s portfolio, including corporate initiatives, master-planned communities, multifamily and mixed-use developments and hospitality concepts, with a focus on branding, placemaking and experiential activation. She previously led digital and social marketing strategies at Brookfield Properties for mixed-use destinations including Fifth + Broadway in Nashville, River Oaks District in Houston and Buckhead Village District in Atlanta. Catalana is a GlobeSt. 2026 CRE Aspiring Leader and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Sociology from Pace University.

  • Kevin Wilson, Senior Vice President and Co-Head of Marketing & Strategy: Wilson leads strategic positioning, marketing and go-to-market strategy across SLC’s master-planned, multifamily, mixed-use, corporate, hospitality and mortgage businesses. Prior to joining SLC, he served as Vice President of Marketing for Kushner and its property management subsidiary, Westminster Management, and previously held marketing roles with Toll Brothers and Home Properties. Wilson was named a Crain’s New York Business Leader in Advertising, Marketing and PR in 2022 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Ursinus College.

  • Matt Ritsko, President, Construction: Ritsko oversees construction for SLC’s multifamily and mixed-use portfolio, leading construction management, project management, estimating, and preconstruction activities. With nearly 25 years of design and construction experience, he has managed numerous multimillion-dollar projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. Ritsko is a licensed architect in Pennsylvania, a member of the American Institute of Architects, a LEED Accredited Professional, and holds OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification.

SLC’s current portfolio reflects the breadth of its growth in nine states across the country. The company developed and recently began leasing up Bria, Gemma, and Capella, three luxury rental communities shaping Las Vegas’ skyline, and Juliette, a 177-unit luxury rental community in White Plains, New York. On the single-family side of the company’s portfolio, SLC is advancing Westerly, an approximately 800-acre master-planned community in Colorado; Fairington, a master-planned community introducing more than 700 homes to Nolensville, Tennessee, that broke ground in November 2023; and and will soon break ground on Lunaroya, an ultra-luxury single-family gated community in the Austin metro area.

Finally, SLC will open its first full-service restaurant, Lupo Notte, on September 16, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee, at its flagship mixed-use community and headquarters, Vertis Green Hills. Together, the projects demonstrate the range of SLC’s work across some of the country’s most dynamic markets, from large-scale master-planned and single-family communities to multifamily and mixed-use destinations.
