Hospitality expert Erik Engrissei to bring excellence in experience to condominium residents

Southern Land Company (SLC), a national real estate developer of award-winning mixed-use developments and master-planned communities, has hired Erik Engrissei as the general manager of The Laurel Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia’s tallest luxury residential tower, set to open this fall. With a robust career in hotel and residential hospitality, Engrissei will pave the path to excellence for the resident experience at The Laurel by assembling, training, and leading an exemplary staff to ensure condominium owners enjoy a truly luxurious lifestyle in Center City.

“I’ve had my eyes on The Laurel since I heard the project was coming up,” said Engrissei. “This is the best building in the city, and I want to be working at the best property. I look forward to hiring a strong staff and training them in the importance and execution of white glove service. We will do everything we can to please our residents and go the extra mile for them.”

As The Laurel’s inaugural general manager, Engrissei will ensure residents of The Laurel receive best-in-class services that are hallmarks of five-star residential properties, such as valet parking, 24/7 concierge access, luxury town car service, maintenance, and security. In addition to overseeing staff and personnel at The Laurel to ensure operations are seamless, Engrissei will also manage the condominium master association, providing guidance and acting as a liaison for residents to the master association.

Engrissei, who has spent more than a decade in hotel and condominium environments, previously worked at The Residences at Two Liberty Place in Philadelphia, where he served as community manager, overseeing the property’s operations, personnel, and resident services. Additionally, Engrissei acted as a consultant for The Laurel at various times in 2018 and 2019 to help establish initial budgets and build staff operations, thus providing Engrissei foresight into the needs and expectations of this unique, first-class property as the building prepares to welcome its first residents.

“We were purposeful and brought Erik on months before the first resident will move in to ensure that we have every detail thoughtfully reviewed and prepared,” said Brian Emmons, Vice President, Southern Land Company. “It’s really exciting to have someone on our team who can get to know our buyers and prospective buyers and have everything ready for our day one move-in and every day after.”

The Laurel, which occupies the uppermost floors (26 to 48) of the high-rise, offers luxury condos and full-floor penthouses for sale, with prices starting in the upper $2 millions. Situated on Philadelphia’s famed Rittenhouse Square, The Laurel is the last newly constructed residential building in Philadelphia’s most coveted location and, at 599 feet, is the tallest luxury residential tower in the city.

Residents of The Laurel’s condominiums will enjoy upper echelon amenities, including an indoor pool and hot tub; a five-star fitness center with a luxury locker room, steam room, and sauna; a yoga and cycling room; a Club Room with bar and catering kitchen and terrace overlooking Rittenhouse Square; a conference room; and even a dog spa. Residents also have access to a guest suite for out-of-town visitors as well as a luxury car service.

The Laurel is slated to welcome its first residents this fall. SLC is currently accepting private showings by appointment only in the beautifully appointed sales center at 1845 Walnut Street. Interested buyers can view interactive visuals of their future home and experience finish options and design features in the sales center’s beautifully appointed model kitchen, living area and master bath. Hard hat tours are also available.

On the lower floors of the building (floors three to 25), 1909 Rittenhouse offers distinctively luxurious for-rent apartment residences, with a primary entrance and amenities package separate from the condos at The Laurel.

The building also includes 44,000 square feet of high-end restaurant and retail space on the first three floors, which will offer world-class dining with the addition of a new restaurant concept from Schulson Collective, and the best in health and wellness with Philadelphia’s first Equinox, the global luxury fitness and high-performance lifestyle leader.
