Southern Land Company (SLC), a national real estate developer of award-winning master-planned, single-family, multifamily, and mixed-use communities, has welcomed Yetta Tropper as President, Multifamily. In this newly created role, Tropper leads all aspects and functions of SLC’s expanding luxury multifamily and mixed-use business, which currently consists of 2,500 units across 10 active communities and 2,700 additional upcoming units across seven communities in various phases of development and construction nationwide.
Development and deployment of exceptional property management services are central to Tropper’s role. Aligning with SLC’s mission of creating the extraordinary, Tropper aims to elevate the resident experience through a heightened focus on hospitality and service, innovation, and sustainability. She will engage, train, develop, and retain top talent and establish consistent standards and practices to ensure residents of any SLC community enjoy an incomparable living experience.
“Our multifamily business is on an incredible path, and we are certain Yetta will lead us to continued success,” said Tim Downey, SLC founder and CEO. “We are already benefiting from her wealth of experience in asset management and creative, solutions-minded approach to property management. She is going to take our resident experience to the next level.”
Tropper brings a unique perspective to the role, with a strong background in finance and asset management spanning nearly three decades. Immediately prior to joining SLC, Tropper was with PGIM Real Estate for more than 10 years, where she served as Head of Multifamily Asset Management for the company’s equity platform. In this role, Tropper was responsible for approximately 60,000 conventional multifamily units, as well as alternate housing portfolios, which included manufactured housing, single-family rental housing, student housing, and active adult communities.
Tropper also held the positions of Senior Multifamily Asset Manager, which included retail assets, and Controller of the Multifamily Portfolio at JPMorganChase. She began her career as a CPA in Deloitte’s Real Estate Group.
Her decision to join SLC and oversee its multifamily portfolio was spurred by an appreciation of Downey’s vision and shared belief in always doing what is right.
“SLC’s reputation speaks for itself,” said Tropper. “The sense of dedication to the betterment of the industry and the resident experience is unparalleled. It starts at the top with Tim’s leadership and his desire to always do the right thing, which translates into beautiful, design-forward, people-first communities. I am grateful to come alongside the remarkable talent at SLC and uplift the multifamily communities even further.”
Tropper holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Baruch College. She serves as Vice Chair of Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) Multifamily Silver Council, is a member of the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC) and Real Estate Technology & Transformation Center (RETTC), and is a LEED Green Associate.
Tropper is based in SLC’s New York office at Rockefeller Center.
