Twelve Colorado brokers join community’s sales teams in Nashville for program’s inaugural event

Southern Land Company (SLC), a national real estate developer of award-winning master-planned and mixed-use communities, hosted 12 Colorado real estate brokers at its corporate office and flagship communities in Nashville on July 24 and 25 to kick off its new Westerly Broker Partnership Program.

The Westerly Broker Partnership Program is designed to further educate brokers about SLC’s vast experience as community developers. This knowledge will help strengthen brokers’ expertise of Westerly, SLC’s under-construction 400-acre master-planned community in Erie, Colorado, which welcomed its first homeowners in May 2023. Upon completion, Westerly will consist of a diverse collection of approximately 1,200 homes within a traditional neighborhood setting. All homes in Westerly are being built by well-known, longtime Colorado homebuilders, Brightland Homes and McStain Neighborhoods, as well as SLC Homes, SLC’s in-house homebuilding group.

Members of the Westerly Broker Partnership Program will also provide valuable feedback and insights through participation in focus groups and additional events as Westerly continues to take shape.

While in Nashville, the brokers were joined by the Westerly homebuilders’ sales and marketing teams for tours of SLC’s corporate office and three SLC communities: Westhaven, SLC’s award-winning flagship master-planned community in Franklin, Tennessee, which inspired Westerly; LaurelBrooke, a gated luxury community just south of Nashville; and Vertis Green Hills, a luxury mixed-use community in the heart of Nashville’s desirable Green Hills neighborhood. Additionally, the group participated in topical discussions led by SLC’s senior vice presidents of design, Ben Crenshaw and Danny Lane, who spoke about SLC’s unique design ethos, and SLC’s founder and CEO, Tim Downey, and president and COO, Brian Sewell, who spoke about SLC’s origins, vision for extraordinary placemaking, and differentiators as a developer.

“Westerly is well on its way to becoming an exceptional community because we do things differently at SLC, and we want our broker partners to have the first-hand experiences and knowledge to truly believe it,” said Jan Cooper, vice president, residential marketing. “This visit was intended to showcase who we are, why we do what we do, and how we create timeless communities that stand out. As a company, we care deeply about people, relationships, and taking time to do things the right way. This is just the starting point for cultivating great relationships with our broker partners. We are grateful they are joining us in bringing Westerly to life.”

Westerly homeowners enjoy sweeping views of the entire Front Range along with a variety of trails and more than 100 acres of the community that are dedicated to parks and open spaces. A community village center is planned, which is expected to include a collection of neighborhood services, restaurants, and shops within approximately 35,000 square feet of commercial space. Westerly will also feature gathering areas for fitness and outdoor recreation, including a swimming pool, great lawn, and various play areas, that can be used for resident events and programs planned by Westerly’s community lifestyle manager and residents alike. There will also be an approximately 5,000-square-foot amenity center with indoor space for community gathering and fitness.

In addition to creating a new residential community, SLC will make significant investments to benefit the entire Erie community. SLC has plans in place to improve County Road 5 and Erie Parkway and to fund improvements to County Road 7. Additionally, SLC will provide 10 acres and $3 million to the Town of Erie for the creation of a new neighborhood park and will donate 15 acres within Westerly to St. Vrain Valley School District for a planned middle school, which will be highly walkable for students.

Westerly and Westhaven are just two of SLC’s master-planned communities. SLC is the developer of the Tucker Hill master-planned community in McKinney, Texas, and a new 373-acre master-planned community in Nolensville, Tennessee.

SLC’s footprint in the Denver market extends to multifamily and mixed-use projects, too. SLC is currently building a collection of multifamily residences at the Karl’s Farm development in Northglenn. SLC previously developed, owned, operated, and sold the mixed-use projects Bespoke Uptown in Denver and Rêve Boulder in Boulder, as well as the multifamily project Centric LoHi in Denver. SLC has maintained a Denver office since 2017.
