Trio of experts to help Southern Land Company continue expansion

Southern Land Company (SLC), a national real estate developer of award-winning mixed-use developments and master-planned communities, recently welcomed three new directors of acquisitions: Clay Cauble, Tanner Johnson, and Jay Sunden. Cauble, Johnson, and Sunden will source multifamily and mixed-use real estate development opportunities in key growth regions across the United States, including the company’s Southeast Region (Cauble), Texas Region (Sunden), and Mountain Region (Johnson).

The additions to the acquisitions team come as SLC is in high-growth mode. SLC currently has 25 active development projects in 11 U.S. markets, with 18 of these being multifamily or mixed-use communities. In the last year, since August 2021, SLC has closed on the acquisitions of four sites or assemblages for new multifamily or mixed-use developments, one site for a new master-planned community, and one site for a new luxury single-family home community.

“We have had great success with our multifamily and mixed-use communities in recent years, and it all begins with the locations and sites,” said Tim Downey, SLC founder and CEO. “We build where people want to live, and we mean that very specifically. We seek the best possible sites that will offer our future residents something they can’t get anywhere else, so it is critical that we have the right team in place to properly discern what opportunities and sites meet our objectives and align with our high standards for excellence. I have tremendous confidence in the talent and experience Clay, Tanner, and Jay bring to the team. They join an exceptional acquisitions group, and collectively they will help us expand even further.”
